And we are off to book #3......Molly's Story!
I read the back of this book and thought about how I cried 4 times when I recently saw "A Dog's Purpose". Did you see that movie? Well I have a feeling this book is going to be just as good...and I may shed some tears.
I know you said you liked the book "Awkward" because the pictures helped you visualize; let's work on that. During this book, let's talk about parts that you could really visualize and use describing words to describe them and ask questions if you have a hard time seeing other parts i your mind.
Here is an example just using the back of the book:
Molly (the dog) says, "she had warm brown eyes and a scattering of freckles across her face".
Here is what I visualize: I can picture a little, Irish, light skinned girl (with those freckles) looking at this puppy really up close. I see can picture her to be one of those little girls to have BIG round eyes that can make you just melt inside.
Questions I can't see, but wonder: How old is she exactly? Where is she from?
Let's try it.....Happy Reading!
yes i have seen all of the remixes of the dogs Purpose. I agree that I visualize the same things, but I think that the girl looks like one of my bffs. I think that when I visualized that when Molly describe the person that she was smelling.
ReplyDeleteQuestions
Who is Che?
What is weaned?-mother dog not having puppies anymore.
How old is CJ?
Shouldn't we be getting into the juicy parts yet?
I thought it was funny that she said I am not the nippy type yet.
Reading Chapter 3-6
ReplyDeleteI thought the chapter with the most quotes would be chapter 3, I thought that it was the most thoughts and quotes and most of them were easy to answer all of the questions that we came up with today.
-“The sound of her voice jolted me. I turned and get once more. There she was. CJ. She was standing just inside the open gate.”
-“There was a lot of new smells. I hungover CJ's arm, my nose twitching as I tried to take them all in. Dampness... And wet Earth... An old cement... And so forth... Cardboard... And other things I was curious to explore”
I am going to something, but I will finish sometime.
“There was a lot of new smells. I hungover CJ's arm, my nose twitching as I tried to take them all in. Dampness... And wet Earth... An old cement... And so forth... Cardboard... And other things I was curious to explore” I think this means There was a lot of new scents around me. My nose trembling as I try to take them all in. Everything in dog heaven I could see.
ReplyDelete“The sound of her voice jolted me. I turned and get once more. There she was. CJ. She was standing just inside the open gate.” I think the sound of her voice means that the sound of CJ’s voice excited me when I heard it. I turned my snout to get one more. But, I was supervised to see CJ inside the open gate.
I thought that when the book said “ I squatted down and made a puddle on the floor, which made CJ straight up on the couch and drop her sandwich. So I helped myself to the bits of it while she ran to get a soft square piece of paper to dab the carpet quit. Then she took me outside.”
All of these quotes mean to me is the cuteness of a dogs mind and what the dogs think when we take them into a new world,(For them).
Hello! Sorry I did not get on yesterday....I will hop on the BLOG twice today. First for chapters 3-6, then later for chapters 7 and 8. I enjoyed your quote from chapter 3! I agree, there were a lot of times when I really visualized from this chapter! I really was able to see a specific part in chapter 5 for my visualization...
ReplyDeleteOn page 62 when Molly was climbing up the stairs when Molly was at school was a real nail biter. I knew her mom was going to lose it!
"It was hard work . I had to get my front paws on each step, and then heave and scramble to make my back paws climb up and meet them. But I kept going."
My visualization: As the dog went up each step with his front and back paws slowly touching every step, his little butt and tail were wobbling from side to side to stay balanced up the stairs. I can picture a long, wood, steep staircase all the way to the top. And I also see Molly taking a long time to climb all the way up; but he never gave up and followed the flowery smells of Gloria.
This quote shows determination and how much Molly did not like being in the basement alone for so long while CJ was at school!
I think CJ was doing the best she could to take care of the dog, but it is unfair for a dog to be kept in a basement. I just wish she had a better relationship with her mom that she could tell her about Molly. My mom never let me have a dog because she knew we were always so busy and it would be unfair to the dog.
I will write again later tonight! HAPPY READING!
Chapter 7 and 8
ReplyDelete' CJ held me tightly, the man got into the van and drove away. '
Reword This Phrase
CJ grasped me firm, the full man with the crumby voice got into his small truck and exited the party.
Means to Me
This quote by Bruce Cameron technically means to me that many people can leave when they are done doing their business.
I am writing about chapter 7 and 8 late at night because we had a late night of baseball. We ended up winning the championship game, but only got it 4 innings because of rain. There was a lot of rain delays as we thought at one point we cold finish the game, but the rain came on to strong the second time around. But it was a good tight game we won 5 to 4 (even though the game never finished in its entirety.) That's mother nature!
ReplyDeleteChapter 7, page 79
"You don't go to a dance with your friends", CJ said laughing. "That's not what it's for".
Trent picked up Rocky and help him close to his face, yeah, but....." he mumbled into my brother's fur.
"But what", you go with a girlfriend, that's what you do"....
I can just picture the CJ and Trent hanging out in his room and his heart starting to pound against his chest because he really likes CJ. I mean, he is ALWAYS there for her. I can see his face turn pink and his hands start to sweat, but then CJ pushes him away, not getting it at all!
This quote shows just how much Trent cares for CJ and that he wants to take her to the dance as his girl friend.
I think it's best when your best friend becomes that special someone. I hope CJ starts to see it as we keep reading.....
HAPPY READING!
I wanted you to know that I am leaving for my cottage tomorrow (Wednesday) and I am not sure i will get a signal to BLOG. If I don't I may have to text you my quotes. I will try my best! But please continue to do your reading, BLOG's and quotes on this BLOG so I can read them when I return. Happy 4th of July and HAPPY READING!!!
ReplyDeleteBLOG LOG, Chapters 9-10:
ReplyDeleteI am back early in the morning again on Wednesday....I wanted to hop on before I left. I think it is so neat that we are learning so much about CJ through the eyes of a dog! And I really don't like that Shane!!!
Here is the part i visualized most at the end of chapter 9 -page 108:
"CJ seemed to be getting ready for school, which made me sad. But when she went out the front door, she called to me to go with her! I raced after her. She opened the car door for me and I leaped into the backseat as quickly as possible, in case she changed her mind."
I can just picture Molly's heart beating so fast with excitement when CJ called her name. Her paws scratched against the floor because she began to run so fast and bound into the car! Her tail must have been wagging a mile a minute!!!
This shows just how much Molly loved being with her CJ and any chance she gets to be with her instead of in the house with Gloria is going to be a good day!
This is why people say a dog is a man's best friend! Molly doesn't even know where she is headed and she is still excited, because she is with CJ.
HAPPY READING!
What is the blog link for our first book?
ReplyDeleteWednesday
Chapter 9-10
I think two good quotes are...
*"She was older than CJ, but younger than Gloria, and she had long black hair held back by a bright headband."
I think this quote has a lot of discription in it and I could really visualize this lady as an Asian lady in her late 30's.
*"I wasn't just supposed to lie down when I was next to the bald man. It was that smell. I turned back to the woman and lay down, crossing my paws."
This means she is learning and on her way to victory, and when I saw victory I mean being a service dog.
Happy 4 of July
ReplyDeleteI was a little behind with my reading and blogging doing today's reading and blogging now.
ReplyDeleteHAPPY 4th of July!!! Hope you enjoyed some fire works!
ReplyDeleteBLOG LOG: Chapter 11 & 12 (I am writing this on Friday because time got away from me on the 4th)
Page 136:
"Sheryl's eyes were wide and bright. My mother - she died of breast cancer, she murmured. A few tears started to slip down her checks."
I can just picture Sheryl not able to catch her breath when CJ told her about Molly smelling cancer in her. I can picture her trying to push tears away that were going to continue water-falling when she made her way to the car after leaving the art show.
I don't think CJ should have told her right then and there at the art show. I think she should have waited until the next day. But she felt she need to tell her immediately for her own good. Her emotions showed how much cancer has affected her life in the past. Even though this is a difficult topic for Sheryl, Molly did a fantastic, amazing thing!
BLOG LOG: Chapters 13-14
ReplyDeletePage 151:
"I pulled my head out of the box and looked around. The place was filled with the sound of barking. Tiny dogs yipped. Big dogs bayed and bellowed. To my right was an empty cage; to my left was a brown hound with floppy ears who lay on the cement floor, occasionally putting up his head and opening his mouth to join in the din."
I picture Molly looking everywhere, up, down and all around. Dogs in cages on shelves and on the cold, lonely, cement floor. Molly has never heard so much barking in one place! She feels just like her owner CJ....sad, scared and alone!
I can't believe that Gloria did this.....well I kind of can because she is just the worst! But wait until CJ comes home from school! Molly can't live without CJ and CJ can't live without Molly!
These poor dogs need love and affection. It wouldn't take much to make these dogs happier! A walk here and there, a few treats and some petting would make there day. I found my dog Barkley at a Chicago Rescue Shelter. He has been "my boy" for 12 years; his birthday is on Sunday! I think he has had a good life with us...he loves being here at the lake. We don't get him out on the boat as often because of all the kids and cousins. I think I will make sure he gets at least one ride this weekend for his birthday! Awwwww, Barkleydog!

ReplyDeleteChapter 11-12
I thought that In chapter 11 there was a very good quote...
"I still did not know what she wanted. But her hands were heavy on me, and I lowered my head and didn't move, felling like a bad dog as she poured water all over me from the dog dish."
I think that that means that he was unsure of what CJ was doing to him. When I first read that she was holding her down, I thought that she was getting shots. But she was just getting a bath. She used the water bole because she did not want anyone to hear.
I am a little behind so Sunday will be my catch up day.
happy 4 of July
Friday Reading
ReplyDeleteChapter 13-14
I thought that this was a good teasing Quote...
"'Want a piece of roast beef?' Gloria asked. I took a step toward her, then stopped. I could hear the question in her voice, but I did not know if it meant if I was in trouble or not."
If you read ahead she picks it back up and takes two bites out of it. how rude, that is called teasing in our family!
Saturday Reading
ReplyDeleteChapter 15-17
End of book~
I have noticed that the only time Molly pays attention is when she hears her name and only when.
Quote~
Molly noted what she hears, sees, and smells.
"I began to notice the smells I was familiar with. clumps a graph and corners of mailboxes and telephone poles had been marked by dogs that I recognized. I lifted my head, sniffing deeply, and then straight in the head, pulling on the leash."
I just thought that this paragraph gave Molly some good ideas to you know, find other dogs, get ideas, get crazy. Hahaha! I just thought it was a good kind of ending the story. Even though there is two more chapters in the book.
I will finish the book then come back to tell you about it.
ReplyDeleteBLOG LOG: End of Book
ReplyDeleteHello! I am writing late on Sunday night as we just got back from our cottage. I was able to get onto the internet once while I was there, but I tried earlier today and it wasn't working. It can be touchy out their near the lake!
Anyway, I hope you were able to finish the book! I thought the ending was great. And two quotes stand out to me:
"She took a shower while I waited for her, sitting on the towel she'd laid down for me over the cold tile floor. Sometimes I stuff my nose in between the two plastic curtains to see what was taking her so long."
I can picture Molly's tail wagging and her being so calm at the same time, rejoicing that she is back home with her girl.
Molly has been on a lot of cement and garage floors; this shows that Molly was enjoying being on a cozy towel in the bathroom with CJ. She was so confused with the past couple of days when CJ did NOT want to be at home with her mom.
I also enjoyed when, at the very end of the story (the last sentence), it says, "As I jumped on Rocky's head, I looked over at them and saw Trent reach and take hold of CJ's hand again."
This shows Trent's true love for CJ and I think now she understands him and has accepted that their friendship is a little more than just friends! Yeah...romance in the air!
I hope you enjoyed the ending as much as I did!
Because it is so late, I will create the new BLOG for our new book tomorrow morning. Check back on this BLOG for the new address!
HAPPY ENDING!!!
Good morning! Here is the new address for the next blog: Bailey's Story
